So Ho-chi is a multimedia composer whose works ranging from instrumental, vocal and choral works to electroacoustic composition, field recordings, music performance as theatre, and 360-degree video. Growing up in postcolonial Hong Kong, identity has been a recurring theme in his works. Often focusing on the re-interpreting and re-contextualising the sonic and performative materials appropriated, he creates a new form or situation to the sound and performance as a mean to question the convention and re-imagining new possibilities of organisation of the materials, to evoke questions hidden beneath the convention.
His works has been selected to perform in various music festivals, competitions and concerts, such as Gaudeamus Muziekweek, ISCM World Music Days 2019 Tallinn, Orkest de Ereprijs - Young Composer Meeting, Asian Composers' League, “Sound Forms” - a festival of multi-channel sound organised by Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong, Hong Kong Phil Composer Workshop – “Beyond the Ring”, and Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag Spring Festival.
